With a full score of jazzy songs and bright dance numbers, Millie took Broadway by storm and won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2002! Small town Millie Dillmount arrives in 1920's New York to see how the other half lives, but what starts out as a bold declaration of her independence turns into a whirlwind of money, romance, kidnapping and tap-dancing stenographers!
Suggested age: 12 and up (due to drinking in a speakeasy, close dancing, and innuendo in dialog). We encourage the youth in your family to enjoy the experience of live theatre with you, but you know your family best, so feel free to call us at 282-2620 if you would like more information.

Dedication: With the greatest affection and respect, Bruce and Phil dedicate this production of Thoroughly Modern Millie to the memory of the irreplaceable Murry DePillars, Dean of VCU’s School of the Arts from 1976 to 1995. Murry was an inspired visual artist, a brilliant administrator, and a joyous lover of jazz. He was endlessly supportive of Theatre IV, and played a vital role in our acquisition of the historic Empire Theatre. Murry will forever hold an honored place in our hearts, and in the hearts of all Richmonders who care about the arts.
