Reviews for The Little Dog Laughed:
""Crackling good comedy. Assured, sharp and funny." Style Weekly
"Little Dog packs a Big Bark" Richmond.com
"Witty, stinging, it's a cynical sendup of Hollywood types that somehow also manages to expose the wounded hearts of people who are afraid to be who they are." Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Hysterically
funny, this brand new satire of Hollywood hypocrisy was a 2007 Broadway
hit, and it’s as fresh and rollicking as next week’s movieland
expose. Diane is a Hollywood superagent who likes to order
her Cobb Salad with everything on the side, but finds it a wee bit
harder to control the accompaniments that flavor the life of her #1
actor client. While she struggles to transform her budding leading
man into the next Orlando Bloom, she
encounters one small problem.
He may well be falling hard for the cute male escort
who recently visited his hotel room in New York. With ribald language,
sexual candor, and just enough bared flesh to get one into trouble,
Douglas Carter Beane allows us to indulge our celebrity obsession
as he peeks behind the scenes of a comic and poignant scandal-du-jour.
At Willow Lawn.

With respect and affection, this production of The Little Dog Laughed is dedicated to the memory of Patty Noonan. When she was still in high school, Patty's onstage talents added much to our Hanover Tavern productions of two Gilbert and Sullivan classics, The Pirates of Penzance and Patience. She was always full of laughter, compassion and commitment, and grew up to achieve great success as Sr. V P of Policy and Economic Development at Partnership for New York City, a nonprofit membership organization comprised of CEOs from NYC’s top corporations. Patty recently died of cancer at age 41, and will be missed tremendously by all who had the privilege to know her. |

MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS
By Ron Hutchinson
Step behind the scenes for the making of the most popular movie of all time – Gone With the Wind - in this sharp and witty comedy. The director, the writer and the legendary producer David O. Selznick sequester themselves in a hotel room with peanuts and bananas, and try to figure out how to save a floundering film while the actors are paid $50,000 a day to do nothing. With so much riding on the line they don’t have time to “think about it tomorrow.” They must patch up their differences, act out the scenes, and make it all come together in 5 short, hysterical days. Don’t miss this comic charmer.
DOUBT
A Parable
by John Patrick Shanley
"What do you do when you're not sure?", Father Flynn
asks the audience at the opening of Doubt. At a
Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Father Flynn is a charming young priest
who takes a more personable and familial approach to his charges.
He clashes with stern traditionalist, Sister Aloysius, who keeps faculty
and students on a tight leash. Playwright Shanley deftly brings us
around to see the compassion hidden beneath the Sister’s hard
exterior and the weight behind her suspicions concerning Father Flynn
and his relationship with the troubled young boys he takes under his
wing. Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer
Prize for Drama, Doubt is a powerhouse performance that takes
an unflinching, passionate look at both faith and accountability. At Willow Lawn. Part of the Acts of Faith Festival.
| With respect and affection, this production of Doubt was dedicated to the memory of Curtis Morrisette, actor (The 1940’s Radio Hour), volunteer (countless productions), and steadfast friend. We will miss his feisty good humor and remember him always. |
